Life slapped me in the face.

Good morning! Thank you for all your support and feedback from my last post.  I had another post ready to go for yesterday but life got in the way.  I don't normally talk specifics about my personal life--maybe a dash here and there but this weekend life slapped me in the face.  I had to take my son to the emergency room.  He is fine now but it was a little scary. It turns out he has walking pneumonia and is now playing like a crazy man  so the medication is working. I was quite surprised when they admitted him into the hospital because I just thought I would bring him to just get checked out, get some medication and go home.  He had a high fever, and low oxygen levels so we stayed there. It was a heart wrenching experience and all I want to do is hug my kiddos.
Today I was supposed to take him to an ears, nose and throat specialist for other problems he has been having but I was lucky that the doctor came to us at the hospital. So on top of the pneumonia my little guy needs tubes (for his ears), along with the removal of his tonsils and atnoids (I don't think I spelled that right, sorry). That should happen in a few weeks.
So if my posts fall short over the next few weeks you know why.
I hope to do some commenting today and check out the blogosphere to see what I missed. Don't forget go to Fiction Groupie for the open critique.  I know I have almost 100 followers so don't forget to check back for a contest. :)
I plan on catching up on revisions and critiques over the week and weekend.

Hug the ones you love folks --take the time to show it.

Have a great day! Happy writing!

  3. Yikes! Way to hang in there girl! I like you only share a few personal things here and there and I'm really sorry to hear about your son, but I'm glad to hear that he's doing better. That can be so scary at times!

  4. I know exactly where you've been. We went through the same scenario a few years ago. She was constantly getting ear/sinus infections, had pneumonia 3 xs.

If I can make a suggestion, for the time being before they put the tubes in his ears, take him off milk after 5pm. Let him have water and only water at night. It lessens the pressure when he's sleeping. It's tricky if he's used to it, but it helped mine tremendously.

  5. Oh my goodness! I hope everything goes well. All that surgery on a child! How old is he? I would get a second opinion, just to be sure. It seems a little like someone is trying to pay off their medical school loans, you know?

I mean, my doctor recently told me he might want to take MY tonsils out. Give me a break!

  6. Hmm, I had tubes in my ears as a kid. Of course, being a child of the 80's, when the doctor was putting me under anaesthesia, he told me that it was Ninja Turtle Gas. I thought it was awesome.

And I was also that really sickly ears and tonsils kid, so I know he's gonna feel better when it's all over and done with. Good luck with keeping it all together, and we'll be eagerly waiting for you to come back!

  7. i understand about life slapping you in the face. 4 years ago we took our son to the doctor for stomach problems. he referred us to a pediatric gastroenterologist and after she looked at him, she said he needed to be in the hospital for Crohn's Disease. talk about a shocker. he was there for 8 days so they could get his weight back up. that kind of stuff is hard on a mom. i'll say a prayer for you.

  15. What? You mean there's something more important than blogging? Like family lol? Those times when I don't have it in me to post is when I troll the blogs and make zillions of comments, and look for some new blogs to add to my reading list. It all seems to work out! Hope he gets better real soon!
