Fun Facts Friday

I have a couple of contests:
The lovely Jessica Bell has reached 400 followers and she is having an awesome contest. Go check it out Ends December 2nd.

The fab Kimberly Franklin is giving away a signed copy of The Mockingbirds by Daisy Whitney. Ends December 1st.

1. My week did start out slow. I get scared when that happens because I'm afraid I've lost all creativity and it will not return. A common daymare of mine (instead of a nightmare). I think about it a lot and it scares me.

2. My daughter thinks Smarties (a hard candy) make you smarter if you eat them everyday. It really is her just using manipulating skills.
3. On the other hand, my son keeps mentioning a wheel store. I finally figured it out. A chain here, known as Target, their logo is a bullseye and apparently makes him think of a wheel. Boys only have cars on the brain.

4. To make my week better, I looked back at how much I have revised on WiP #1 since August-- 35,000 words. I did feel a little better. It shows me how far I've come in a year and a half. Trust me, it's much better than it was when I started. I know these 35,000 words will have to be revised again before line edits, but I'm heading in the right direction.
5. It made me feel so good that I wrote 2,000 words yesterday (a new chapter) and revised 1,000 more.

6. I plan to do Writing the Next Line on November 24th. Mark your calenders.

7. Tune in next Thursday November 11th. I'll be reviewing Perilous by Tamara Hart Heitner.

8. Even when you feel alone on this journey, you're not. Blogging buddies and CPs will always pick you up and make you feel awesome. Thanks guys.

9. I need to catch up on 30 Rock. I love DVR.

10. The worst chore for me is ironing. I really, really dislike it. I hold out as long as I can. Which is bad because the pile is huge.

11. Kids really do love boxes that the toys come in. They also tend to love catalogs. My kids have Lego catalogs from the Lego store in Munich. They continue to look through  them even though pages are missing and the edges are torn. We got them back in July. Why I think buying toys is silly.

Not much went on folks. How was your week? Any weekend plans?

Have a great weekend!!

  1. I've written 6400 words of my book's sequel this week so far - happy about that.
Smarties don't make you smarter? Damn!

  2. I'll finally catch one of your 'Writing the Next Line' exercises. Yay! Congrats on your revisions. Tough, I know. It took me four weeks to convert my ms from 3rd POV to 1st, and for the last two weeks I've been doing a final comb-through. I should finish today and send it off to be line-edited. I'm thrilled!

  3. Christine, are you saying your daughter is wrong about Smarties? I agree with her--they're my favorite and I always have a bunch on hand. And, I vote with her--they DO make you smarter.

Of course, you know that there are two kinds of Smarties and they're not equal. There are the tart kind (and those make you dumber) and there are the sweet ones and they raise I.Q. points significantly.

Your daughter rocks! Its clear that she eats the sweet Smarties...

  4. pshaa. I don't iron. I either buy clothing which doesn't wrinkle, oR (and i think this can help you) i buy wrinkle release spray (i think it's put out by Tide). You just spray the wrinkled clothes, straighten them out, wrinkles gone in like 2 seconds.

  5. So much for all the Smarties I've been sneaking from the Halloween candy. And I agree with you about the CP/beta readers/blogging buddings. What would we do without them? ;)

  6. What's ironing? ;) Have a great weekend!

  7. I'm so with you on the ironing. Bleh. When my hubby asked what I wanted for mother's day, I said, for your to do the ironing! He made up a cute certificate and gave me a break for a few weeks. Now it's piling up again. Ah, but Christmas is coming...hmm...

  8. I'm with Kelly. What's ironing??? GO you with all those words, both revising and the new chapter!! You're doing awesome. :)

Oh toy catalogues. I just got the big Christmas one in the mail and I'm contemplating hiding it. ;)

I hope you have a fun weekend!

  9. The consensus appears to be, nobody likes ironing either. No one more than me I can tell you ...

And, as for Smarties not making you smarter - damn it!

    Lovely post, Christine.

All the best with the rewrite. I'm right behind you :)

  10. I watched my niece have a great time jumping around with a cardboard box over her head today and I thought, "Who needs toys?"

Not much planned for the weekend here, just soccer, soccer, and more soccer!

  11. I laughed so much when little Norah Kathryn received all these things for her birthday and what did she play with most for the first few days was the spoon from a tea set she received *laughing* - she loved that spoon!
