When you have a cold

I'm finally coming down from the massive attack on my sinuses. I've learned that rest is the best thing, but with rest, my mind wanders. This is a good thing. Why? I'm getting over my 'stuck' moment in my revisions. Daydreaming can spark many things to happen. So, I'm excited to get started.
I also started reading this:
Please Ignore Vera Dietz by A.S. King. So far I've read half the book in one day. That's a lot for me. This book is fantastic. One of those books that make me want to strengthen my craft, and makes me feel a little intimidated. Like, holy cow, I have a long way to go. I needed this book now. Simply awesome.

Any weekend plans?

Read any good books lately?

Have a great weekend!

  2. Hope you're feeling tip top soon!

I just finished this book this week...you're right, great book and inspiring to me as a writer. LOVED the brief comments from the Pagoda.

Also (shameless plug), you can get an entry to win an ARC from me since you've read/almost finished reading this book I read this month:)

  3. Ugh, HATE sinus infections! :P Hope you feel better soon!
I'll have to check out that book!
Thanks for commenting on my blog and I think you should totally use the 'abducted by aliens' excuse to get some quiet time! Lol!

  4. Sorry you're not feeling well. I'm a baby when I'm sick, so I understand wanting to get through it quickly.

I'm reading TWEAK by Nic Sheff. It's taking me forever; I think the content is a bit heavy for me, and it's a memoir so the style is different than what I'm used to.

The weather forecast looks HORRIBLE this weekend. It doesn't look like I'll get another pool day this summer, so maybe I can be productive instead.

  16. So sorry you've been sick. That's rotten. Hope you're on the mend.

Ah, I loved PLEASE IGNORE VERA DIETZ. Wait until you read EVERYBODY SEES THE ANTS (coming in October). It's fantastic. I read it a month ago and it's staying with me. Vera Dietz is awesome, don't get me wrong, and I was so happy that it was awarded a well-deserved Printz honor, but this one is even more masterfully-crafted. It should win the Printz! I'm in awe of Amy's writing. SO powerful.

  19. Let me say that A.S. King is one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. She came to my husband's high school twice this summer to be on author panels and I've never been so captivated by anyone. She spoke about teen issues with such passion. One of the panels was on bullying - I managed to get some of it on video and will be posting it one of these days on my blog. She's amazing and her book is amazing! I'm glad you found her.
