Fun Facts Friday

Another week has gone by and this one seemed a little long. On with the facts.

1. This week was big for me. I sent out queries and started another project, well, two projects. It feels good and awkward, but I'll get there. I'm having the usual feelings of--am I really good enough?--but I'm pushing through.

2. "I Will Survive" has been going through my brain radio. The original version by Gloria Gaynor and the version by Cake.

3. The Hunger Games--sigh. I really did love it. Yes, there were some differences, and yes, the book is better, but I think they did a great job. BTW- I'm Team Peeta.

4. Love this:

(I'm  not sure if it will show up since YouTube gives me trouble.) It brought tears to my eyes. Don't judge a book by its cover.

5. Thanks to Tyrean for the Versatile Blogger Award. Go check out her blog.

What are your weekend plans?

Have you had a fun week?

Have a great weekend!

Stepping into the Land of Query

Yep, I started. I sent out a couple of queries. I wasn't sure how I would feel. It's like I was anticipating I'd feel one way, but after I sent them, I felt a little different. It got me thinking of what my Queryland would look like. Most people describe it as hell, which I can see. But are the first moments really like that?

Here's what it's like to me. After pushing the send button, a big gate opened. (Think large wooden gate that's very intimidating and heavy.) When I walk through it, I enter a field of wildflowers that seem to stretch for miles. Beautiful colors of reds, yellows, purples, and blues. They're about waist high, and when a warm breeze blows, they dance. In the blue sky above, there are some clouds that spell the word--Possibilities.

In the distance, I see two pathways. There are cheers and whistles coming from the one on the right. Loud music pumps, while confetti and balloons escape a multi-colored archway. My writer friends stand at the entrance, cheering with drinks in hand. The pink neon sign above says--Acceptance.
Just imaging a big party with balloons and people. Sorry couldn't find the right photo.

The path on the left is a lot different. An archway of dull bare tree limbs, making the path look like a prison. It's dark, and the path itself is full of weeds poking through brick. There is no sound, except for a cricket and maybe a growl, which is kinda scary. Wait. I hear a wolf howling too. The sign above the path is worn and the edges of the wood is stained with mold. It reads--Rejection.

This land is scary, but exciting. It's a step, and I don't know where it will go. I have my predictions and I'm not setting the bar too high. I'm being realistic. For now, I'm going to lay a blanket in the field of Possibilities and enjoy the sun.

What does your Queryland look like or what do you think it would look like?

Believe it or not--I haven't been checking my email like crazy. I'm being realistic and not expecting much.

BTW- I saw The Hunger Games--so great! Me likey lots.

Have a great day!

That movie

So it's here. The Hunger Games movie. I'm wicked excited. I'm going this evening. I've got kids and stuff. I know, no excuse.

Anyway, who went to the midnight showing? You may be sleeping cause you partied all night in celebration or something. Lucky you. :) But if you so happen to be awake, let me know.

Also, share your thoughts. Is it close to the book? Is it the way you pictured it? Spill it people. :)

Have a great weekend!

Simple

So, I'm keeping this short. I had this post written out in my head, but my morning time is not allowing me to write it. Yep, mornings are ridiculously hectic. I decided to ask my fellow blogging buddies a question. Simple, right?

With the Hunger Games movie coming out this week, I thought I'd keep in the spirit of the big screen.

What book would you like to see made into a movie and why? See, simple.

Have a great day!

*Yes, my brain is fried from edits. I'm almost done.
**The picture of Peeta and Gale is bigger because that's just the way it is. I had no power over the size. Okay, I did, but the small poster looked blurry when I made it bigger.

Fun Facts Friday

I'm so glad this week's over.

1. I've been to a doctors office three, yes three, times this week. My son had an ear infection on Monday and my daughter got strep. The pediatrician suggested I get tested for strep since I've been sick. Thank goodness it was negative, but she told me to try and stay away from my daughter. Huh? How do I do that?

2.I've been watching Lost Girl on SyFy. I have to say the premise is really great. The acting--not so much. Plus, this show relies heavily on the s-e-x factor. Lots of skin to say the least, but like I said, the premise is interesting.

3. I'm reading PARTIALS by Dan Wells. It's to be released 2/28/12. I'll let you know what I think.

4. I'm working hard on my writing class, and I have to say, I may take more. Can you see the smoke coming from my brain? This class is great and you get to use an actual piece of YOUR work. So, you get to see how it changes from when you started. Me likey.

5. I'm getting so excited for this movie:

I can't contain myself. I really can't wait. *shakes*

6. To all the chocolate lovers--Have you tried Reese's Minis or Hershey's drops? Holy cow. So good.

7. I think this is the longest amount of time I've been away from the manuscript I want to query. I'm starting to get the itch to dive back in, but I'm taking my time by taking notes, well, bullet point notes on what I need to focus on. It's sort of a new way for me to approach revisions.

8. I still have a ton of characters invading my head, but I'm writing some new things when I get a minute. Call it free writing, I guess. I'm trying to write without thinking. Totally hard for me, but I'm trying.

Well, that's all for this week.

How was your week?

What TV shows have surprised you?

What's your favorite chocolate?

Oh and who's excited and can't wait for The Hunger Games Movie?

Have a great weekend!

I'm in a video--yikes.

I had a whole other post ready to go and decided it was just dumb. Me talking about which manuscript to work on and focus. Blah. Blah. Blah. Plus, I have a head cold so nothing is functioning right in the brain.
I decided to make this post fun.

First, go to Frankie's blog. Yeah, the pictures and video are up. I can feel my cheeks turning red. Video of the event and I'm in it. Frankie has some wicked film making skills.

Second, the teaser trailer for The Hunger Games. I'm hoping this works. Okay, it didn't. I really am having issues with embedding. Anyway, go here to see it. Argh.

My focus today--to get better and hopefully focus on one manuscript.

How's your week coming?

Have a great day!

Tenses are switched

So  I did it. I finished converting a mixed tense manuscript to all present tense (except for the flashbacks which are in past). I actually can't believe it, all 204 pages, and I'm giddy about it. I still have a lot of work to do. Some fill  in stuff, re-doing the beginning then check the plot things (kill some darlings, you know, the usual). I'm down right excited. And the cup of inspiration is filled.

See I'm hyping myself up for the next round of revisions.

So hype yourself up, people. Situations change, people change, learn, grow, and write, write, write. Only you hold the key to your success.

Inspiring? Good. Now if I could only psych myself into running. I'm going to eat a piece of chocolate and some baked Cheetos (don't ask).

Have a great weekend
!
Oh and I tried so hard to embed this all sorts of awesome movie poster for a little movie called The Hunger Games, but the darn thing gave me trouble. So go check it out here (the first novels club, because those gals are way more talented than me at embedding this stuff) or here.

Can't wait for it!!
